Noah-Smith

Keynote Speaker: Noah Smith
Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Washington.

Noah Smith designs data-driven algorithms for automated analysis of human language. His work tackles the core problems of natural language processing: parsing sentences in different languages into syntactic representations and semantic representations, as well as cross-cutting techniques for unsupervised language learning. His 2011 book, Linguistic Structure Prediction, synthesizes many statistical modeling techniques for language.

Keynote Speaker: Jon Kleinberg
Professor of Computer Science and of Information Science, Cornell University.

Jon Kleinberg is a professor at Cornell University. His research focuses on the interaction of algorithms and networks, and the roles they play in large-scale social and information systems. His work has been supported by an NSF Career Award, an ONR Young Investigator Award, a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship, a Packard Foundation Fellowship, a Simons Investigator Award, a Sloan Foundation Fellowship, and grants from Facebook, Google, Yahoo, the MacArthur Foundation, the ARO, and the NSF. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
