The Storytelling with Data Workshop is intended to educate students on the importance of storytelling in research. Storytelling begins with understanding the problem a business is facing or the questions a business wants to answer and ends with the delivery of information that will help the business make decisions. In between, there needs to be a storyline that connects the audience from beginning to end, and the storyline must speak to the different individuals or teams that care about the answers to the research questions (stakeholders). The story must bring the listener on a logical and rational journey that answers the question of “why?” at every stage, with a laser-sharp focus on relating each step back to answering the research questions.
