AI’s New Role in a Post-COVID World
Streaming demand has surged. Yet media production has halted. AI can take Hollywood to its Future.
As lockdowns were implemented across the U.S. in March, COVID-19 wasn’t the only thing going viral. So was Netflix’s Tiger King. In early July, Disney+ saw U.S. downloads surge by 72% due to the release of Hamilton, and sign-ups are expected to increase again this week due to the highly anticipated premiere of The Mandalorian Season 2 on October 30th. Throughout the pandemic, streaming viewership has surged. Yet a production gap is looming. The need for social distancing has prevented actors and film crews from working in close proximity, which has brought media production to a standstill. I believe that AI will be useful in allowing the film industry to meet its production challenges.
